Being a teen is hard.

There are so many expectations to carry – from parents, teachers, peers, and society.

Making the grades or performing well on the team, so you don’t let your parents down, or so you can get into college. Not to mention all of your own hopes and dreams.

Conflict at home and tension within the family only add to the pressure.

You need to feel accepted but worry about how to fit in with peers. It’s stressful and confusing.

“How do I know what I want if you don’t even know who I am?”

Only, you can’t sleep. You lay awake mentally reviewing the day’s events, what you missed, what went wrong, what needs to be done tomorrow.

When you finally drift off, sleep is restless, and you awake too soon and start another meaningless day.

Hi, I’m Jenny.

I’m a survivor of adolescence, young adulthood, and am currently full-grown adulting!

I get the struggle because I’ve been there.

Adolescence is one of the most invigorating parts of life. But it’s so often misunderstood by teens and their parents. Most people view adolescents as impulsive and risk-takers – they ignore consequences and make a series of mistakes. But that is precisely what is developmentally supposed to happen!

Then the things that make adolescence so exciting are the very characteristics that we lose when we become adults and responsibilities take over. Life becomes a series of tasks – being responsible for others and feeling uncertain about meeting the demands of everyone around you. You feel overwhelmed and at a loss on how to get it all done. The idea of letting others down can be crippling.

But you don’t have to stay trapped in these feelings!

I love helping teens connect with the essence of who they are during this phase of life and helping adults reconnect with that part of themselves.
