Congratulations on taking the first step toward better health! Seeking help can sometimes feel scary or overwhelming. And finding the right therapist is one of the most important aspects in treatment.  I take the time to develop a supportive, non-judgmental, therapeutic relationship with clients so they feel safe and comfortable.  I utilize a holistic approach to treatment. I understand the body/mind connection and work with you to exam all areas of your life that may be contributing to your symptoms. I am a trauma trained therapist and have extensive knowledge and experience in helping people with trauma history heal and learn to regain control over their lives.  I will work with you to gain insight into how your thoughts may be working against you and keeping you stuck, and help you learn ways to regulate your nervous system and slowly re-wire your brain so that you can respond, instead of react, to life’s stressors. I am a compassionate and empathetic therapist and would be honored to help you on your healing journey.

I work with adolescents 12 and older, as well as adults. We can work together individually or utilize family sessions to address any issues that may be impacting the entire family system.

Areas of treatment include: Depression, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, Adjustment Issues, Divorce/Separation, Self-esteem, Trauma, Peer Related Issues

At this time, all sessions are currently being held using telehealth. There is a growing body of research that supports the efficacy of telehealth sessions and show that they are just as effective as in-person sessions. Some of the benefits include being able to engage in treatment from the comfort and privacy of your own home, reduces time and expense of traveling to an office and keeps you safe during the on-going pandemic. I’m also able to reach a broader number of clients who otherwise might not have access to care!

Fees: As a former clinician for managed care, I understand the limitations as a therapist when working with insurance companies. Managed Care Organizations tend to drive the treatment instead of clients and therapists. Therefore, I do not accept any insurance or Medicaid plans.

My hourly fee is $120. I accept major credit cards and HSA cards.  I can provide a superbill for our sessions for you to provide to your insurance for out-of-network deductions.

Parent Facilitation

As a Parent Facilitator, I act as a neutral third party, appointed by the court, to help families in high-conflict, learn how to successfully co-parent and remain child focused. I can help show you how to work through the difficult feelings of divorce while learning how to effectively co-parent in a mutually respectful way. You will learn how to understand your child’s needs as they also navigate the loss and change of their family due to separation.  I will help you implement, with your co-parent, agreed upon workable strategies and procedures for day-to-day living in a two-home environment. I will meet with parents both jointly and individually, and children (with or without the parents), review reports and written information and consult with others involved with the family. The precise nature of our work together will be outlined in the court order and I will be reporting back to the court on each parent’s progress and participation.

Parent Coordination utilizes the same approach as Parent Facilitation, but our sessions together remain confidential to the court. The court order will need to specify whether our sessions are for Parent Facilitation or Parent Coordination.

Fees: $150 per hour, divided between both parents. The review of any documents and written information, or consultation with others is charged at $150 an hour, billed in 15 minute increments.

Adoption Home Studies

Deciding to adopt a child, whether it is a stepparent adoption or a private adoption between two parents, can be one of the most joyous experiences for a growing family. But it does come with a lot of steps and processes that can feel overwhelming, or even invasive. One of the requirements to adopt is a home study, conducted by a court approved licensed mental health professional. The home study provides crucial information to the court in determining the suitability of a home for a child’s well-being. Per the Texas Family Code, which changed a few years ago, a court approved adoption assessor must also be a court approved child custody evaluator.  I am under supervision for child custody evaluations, therefore I have additional oversight on adoption home studies while I’m completing CCE requirements. By choosing The Path Forward Support Services, you will have two experienced evaluators overseeing your study, ensuring an evaluation that will be accepted by the court.

Fees: A pre-adoption home study is billed at a flat rate of $850. Six month post-adopt reports are $300.

A child custody evaluation (social study) is an evaluation ordered by a judge, conducted by a “specialist licensed by the State of Texas” in a “human services field of study”.  I am currently being supervised for child custody evaluations by Tammi Axelson.

The main goal of a child custody evaluation is for a neutral professional to assess the needs of each child and evaluate how each parent meets those needs of the child. Once the investigation is concluded, I will write a report to the court, providing custody, parenting and child access recommendations, based on the specifics outlined in the court order.

I understand the emotional strain involved during divorce proceedings. A family separating and going through a divorce is one of the most stressful life events a person can endure. The effects from the stress can cause even the most well-intentioned parents to sometimes be unable to view their children’s needs and well-being objectively. Therefore, it is my goal to advocate on behalf of your child(ren)’s best interest.  I do this by maintaining strict neutrality with all involved parties in order to provide a nonbiased recommendation to the court.

Fees: A retainer of $6000 is required to begin services, split between both parties unless otherwise specified in court order. I charge a rate of $150 per hour and bill for services in 15 minute increments. You will receive a monthly statement reflecting the billable hours.
